Planning to hold an event?
Events can provide a wide range of benefits to the community – socially, economically and culturally.

Benalla Rural City has a range of parks and sporting reserves that can be utilised for events and activities of all description.  To provide a safe environment on behalf of the community those responsible for coordinating the event must apply for a permit to use the public space (venue). Public events held on private land may need a Planning Permit.

How do I apply for a permit for my event?
The event guidelines and application form below will assist you with the planning of your event  by helping to think about the elements you may not have considered when planning your event.

View the event application process flowchart below for event organisers to understand the steps involved in the application process.

For more advice and assistance in planning your event contact the Events Coordinator on 5760 2600.

  • Street Parade/Carnival/Road Closure
  •
  • Funding opportunities
  • Benalla Rural City can provide event funding opportunities through community and event attraction programs:

    • Community Sponsorship
    • Major Event Funding Program

To be eligible for the Major Event Funding Program the event should offer the best opportunity to provide measurable economic benefits, have the potential to market Benalla Rural City outside the municipality and enhance local community life through participation by residents. This program opens annually in February.

There are a variety of external funding programs also available.  Visit Our Community Matters website www.ourcommunitymatters for further information.

To find out more about the funding programs contact the Events Coordinator on 5760 2649.
