Intention to lease Hangar 21

Benalla Rural City Council gives notice under Section 190 of the Local Government Act 1989 of its intention to enter into a lease with the Benalla Aero Club in respect of Hangar 21, Benalla Airport, Benalla.

Splash Park location confirmed

Construction will soon begin on Benalla’s splash park, which will be located on the Lake Benalla foreshore near the Benalla Aquatic Centre.

The location has been finalised after a review all locations, heritage and planning requirements.

Mayor, Cr Danny Claridge said a splash park for Benalla will be a great community asset.

$1M drought funding for Benalla

The Council will receive $1million in funding from the Australian Government with Benalla being recognised as experiencing hardship due to the drought.
The funding, which is through the Drought Communities Programme, is being distributed across 52 Councils Australia-wide and is to complete local infrastructure and other drought relief projects.

Benalla Library gets solar panels

The Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop Learning Centre is having solar panels installed to offset the annual electricity cost of operating the building and save 93 tonnes greenhouse gas emissions.

The installation is part of the Local Government Energy Savers Program with funding from Sustainability Victoria.

Benalla Rural City Australia Day 2020 award winners

Chair of the Benalla Rural City Australia Day Advisory Committee Cr Barbara Alexander AO today announced winners of Benalla Rural City’s Australia Day Awards.

The Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre hosted celebrations from 11.30am where 23 nominees for awards were announced.

EOI Aged and Disability Services Review

The Council is calling for expressions of interest from organisations with capacity to deliver aged and disability services currently provided by Benalla Rural City Council.

The EOI process is part of a comprehensive review by the Council on the future delivery of aged and disability services in response to the National Aged Care reforms.

Community support program now open

Making a Splash - water playground getting closer

Construction could begin on a splash park in the south east corner of the Benalla Botanical Gardens near the Rocket Park early in the new year.

Heritage Victoria is assessing the Benalla Botanical Gardens location and is calling for community input.

The Splash Park project funding has been made possible by Minister Jaclyn Symes and the Victorian State Government.
