The Council’s overall performance has improved by 5.9 %, when compared to 2016, according to Benalla Rural City residents in the 2017 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey results.

The Small Rural Council group comprises Alpine, Ararat, Benalla, Buloke, Central Goldfields, Gannawarra, Hepburn, Hindmarsh, Indigo, Loddon, Mansfield, Murrindindi, Pyrenees, Queenscliffe, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.
The Council was rated by residents as having improved or maintained its service from 2016 in six of the seven core measures.

Mayor Cr Don Firth said the overall results show residents feel the Council is generally doing better.
"This is an improvement after a poor result in 2016," Cr Firth said.
"There is still work to do with the community’s perception of Council’s performance. This survey gives us insights into ways to improve and to better understand community needs."
The telephone survey was conducted by JWS Research and included a random sample of 400 adult Benalla Rural City residents. The survey period was between February and March.
