Construction will soon begin on Benalla’s splash park, which will be located on the Lake Benalla foreshore near the Benalla Aquatic Centre.

The location has been finalised after a review all locations, heritage and planning requirements.

Mayor, Cr Danny Claridge said a splash park for Benalla will be a great community asset.

“The splash park will provide relief from our hot weather for both residents and visitors,” Cr Claridge said.

“We are very much looking forward to providing this free community facility which will be a real asset to our town.”

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the addition of a splash park will bring many benefits.

“This splash park will turn an under-utilised but wonderful location into a family and economic attraction for Benalla,” Minister Symes said.

The Council assessed five potential splash park locations, including the southern end of the Benalla Botanical Gardens near the Rocket Park

The splash park will include a significant amount of water play equipment, a new plantroom, pipework and services connection, shade structures and landscaping.

The Splash Park project is being funded by the Victorian State Government.
