News>Benalla and District Community Taskforce
| The Benalla and District Community Taskforce was established in response to the 2007 Vinson Report "Dropping Off the Edge; The Distribution of Disadvantage in Australia."
The taskforce has a membership of over 30 organisations and includes representatives from government and non-government agencies, schools, service clubs, philanthropic groups, churches and community organisations.
The taskforce aims to regenerate Benalla and District to ensure our rural city is no longer identified as a socially disadvantaged community.
The work of the taskforce is overseen by an executive chaired by Barbara Alexander. Executive members are Justin Finlayson, Benalla Rural City Council; Anthony Putt, Central Access Ltd; Neil Stott, Community Health; Tony Goodens, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development; Simon Hill, Department of Human Services; Glen James, North East Support and Action For Youth; David Leslie, FCJ College; Cathy Pianta, Benalla College; Ross Tinkler, Adult and Community Further Education and Pat Claridge, Tommorow: Today Foundation.
A number of Action Development Teams have been established to address issues of disadvantage: Education and Training; Early Years Network; Health and Wellbeing; Employment; and Welcome to Benalla.
