Nominations for the 2014 Australia Day Awards close on Monday 2 December, and Chair of the Benalla Rural City Council Australia Day Advisory Committee Cr Barbara Alexander AO is encouraging people in Benalla to put their nominations in now.
“It’s certainly been a busy year with December nearly upon us, but I urge people to make sure they get their nominations in for people, groups or events within our community as there are so many people in our community doing some wonderful things out there who donate their time to many different causes and organisations,” Cr Alexander said.
People can nominate an individual, community group or event that deserves recognition for their achievements.
Categories for awards are Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Community Event of the Year.
Nominators are encouraged to submit as much information as possible about nominees to assist the selection panel in making an informed decision. Past nominees who did not win a major award the previous year may also be renominated.
The awards will be presented on Sunday 26 January 2014 at the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre at 11.30pm.
Nominations close Monday 2 December 2013. Forms are available from the Benalla Civic Centre, Benalla Library, schools, rural communication stands and Council’s website www.benalla.vic.gov.au.
