An exclusive and intimate musical theatre performance featuring two of Australia's most respected entertainers, David Hobson and Rachael Beck, will be held at the Benalla Performing Arts & Convention Centre on Thursday 14 August at 8pm.
Both Sides is a highlight in BPACC’s 10 year anniversary celebrations, with acclaimed tenor David Hobson returning to Benalla where he headlined the official gala opening in 2004. Rachael Beck is a leading musical theatre and concert performer, and a household name around Australia.
“David Hobson has performed for Queen Elizabeth II in the Great Hall in Canberra in the meantime, and to welcome him back to our world-class facility here in Benalla, ten years on, is such a thrill and a real coup,” said Matt Scholten, Artistic Director for BPACC.
“This is a unique opportunity to see two of this country’s most popular musical performers share their amazing vocal talents and theatrical flair in a very special concert,” Mr Scholten said.
“They perform a unique blend of classical, contemporary and popular songs, featuring the power and beauty of opera and the romance and charm of musical theatre, with songs from Les Miserables, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Sound of Music, West Side Story and Oliver.”
Since beginning his operatic career with the Victorian State Opera in the late 80s, David Hobson has enjoyed a career as a classical performer, a music theatre leading man, a frequent television performer on Dancing with the Stars, It Takes Two, Spicks and Specks and Carols by Candlelight, and as a major recording artist with numerous best-selling recordings and awards.
Rachael Beck’s theatre career includes lead roles in major stage productions of Les Misérables, The Sound of Music, Cats and Singin’ In The Rain and most recently Chitty Chitty Bang Bang where she and David performed together.
The award-winning actor is also well known for her many roles on Australian television including Home and Away, Hey Dad, It Takes Two, and Carols by Candlelight.\
“Tickets have nearly sold out for the August 14 show, so I would strongly encourage all keen musical theatre enthusiasts and David Hobson and Rachael Beck fans to act quickly so they don’t miss out on what will be an amazing show!” Mr Scholten said.
Tickets are adults $69.90, seniors $59.90, concession $59.90, group of 10 or more $57.90 per person, BPACC members $55.90 or children under 12, $49.90.
