| Family Counselling is for all families to improve well being and communication between family members.
The family support program is free.
Family Life All families go through different stages:
• New Parents • Parenting young children • Parenting school aged children • Parenting an adolescent
Each stage has its marvels and challenges.
Family Counselling is about identifying strengths and overcoming the effects of problems such as:
• Relationship conflict • Parenting issues • Children with challenging behaviour • Grief and loss • Adolescent issues – drug use, sexuality and depression • Communication breakdown • Domestic violence : Sexual Abuse • Drug and Alcohol issues • Living with a disability
The Counselling service seeks to work with families to:
• Clearly identify problems and examine the effects of problems on the family. • Discover the family’s strengths and resources that can assist in overcoming the problem.
The Counselling can be offered in a variety of ways:
• Sessions with individual family members • Sessions with children or a young person • Sessions with parents • Family sessions • Group programs
All families are different. The Benalla Rural City counselling service values the uniqueness of all families. The Family Counselling Service is for:
• Families with two parents • Families with one parent • Step families • Foster families • Families for children with special needs • Families where a parent may have mental health issues • Families from different cultural backgrounds • Indigenous families • Families with same sex partners
