Benalla Rural City Council is asking residents and businesses to be patient while rubbish collection services return to normal following the grounding of the entire Cleanaway fleet yesterday.
Cleanaway trucks remain off the road following a fatality involving one of their trucks in South Australia, and will be returned after each truck and driver have undergone an assessment process.
Veronica Schilling, General Manager Development and Environment said she expected that scheduled kerbside collection would return to normal over the next few days as trucks and drivers were returned to the road.
“In the meantime, if residents or businesses are experiencing significant inconvenience or health and safety issues, they should contact the Council’s Development and Environment department on (03) 5760 2684.”
“We apologise for the inconvenience, but we acknowledge that the safety of workers and community members must come first. We also send our heartfelt condolences to those affected by the terrible incident which led to this action.”
