Some of Australia’s most accomplished orchestral musicians will perform live on stage in Benalla when the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra (MCO) appears at the Benalla Performing Arts & Convention Centre on Monday 8 September at 7.30pm.
Matt Scholten, BPACC Artistic Director said this orchestral classical music concert called Elegies and Dances promised to deliver a special cultural event.
“This performance will feature the Victorian premiere of the orchestral version of Elegies and Cances by celebrated composer Paul Stanhope,” Mr Scholten said. “The program will celebrate both the lively rhythmic energy and the poignancy of music for strings, with pieces like JS Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor, Bartok’s Romanian Dances and Grieg’s ever-popular Holberg Suite” Mr Scholten said.
One of Australia’s foremost violinists and music educators, Artistic Director of the MCO, William Hennessy, will also present a violin solo.
