As part of the 2014 Benalla Festival (1-9 November) aspiring writers in Benalla Rural City are invited to get creative and write a poem or a piece of prose on the topic ‘Regional Harvest – celebrating our local producers’.
“This is a great opportunity to show off your writing talent and be rewarded, whatever your age,” said Cr Suzy Martin, Chair of the Benalla Festival Advisory Committee.
“Write something that celebrates and enjoys the bounty of all the things produced in our own back yard, such as your favourite spot at school, you favourite Lake Benalla fishing spot, your favourite sporting venue, the talents of a local producer or your favourite rural village.
“We extend a big thank you to our wonderful sponsors of this competition, the Bendigo Bank,” Cr Martin said
We look forward to seeing some of our talented writers get their entries in and be in the running to receive some great prizes.”
Winners will be announced during the Festival on Thursday 6 November.
The categories include primary students, secondary students and an open section. Entry forms are available from the Bendigo Bank, the Council’s Customer Service Centre, school offices or can be downloaded from the Festival’s website www.benallafestival.com Entries close Friday 24 October
