Benalla Festival will be heading back to the future with the Aussie supergroup Absolutely 80’s headlining the diverse and exciting live entertainment program this year.
Absolute 80’s features four of Australia’s favourite pop idols from the 80’s, Dale Ryder (Boom Crash Opera), Scott Carne (Kids in the Kitchen) Ally Fowler (Chantoozies) and David Sterry (Real Life), who will pump out hits like Send Me An Angel, Change in Mood, Wanna Be Up and Onion Skin.
“Forget your 80’s tribute bands, Absolutely 80’s is the real deal,” said Cr Suzy Martin, Chair of the Benalla Festival Committee. “Everything from the 1980’s is chic again, and we are inviting festival-goers to dress up in their best eighties gear and let loose with these legends of Australian music.
Normie Rowe and the Original Playboys will take audiences even further back to the 60’s with hits like Shakin All Over when they perform on Friday 7 November at the Lakeside Community Sports Centre.
The live music program also includes The Elliotts, an Australian Indi Rock Trio with local identity James Howlett returning to play in his home town, and highly respected and well travelled musician Nicky Bomba and his Calypso All Stars who will take you on a musical journey across the globe.
Singer and songwriter Darcy Fox, 2010 X-Factor finalist Chris Doe and local Richelle Boer and her band IRIS will head the bill at Party on the Deck at the Benalla Art Gallery on Saturday 1 November.
Other home grown talents on the program include Let Us Entertain You (LUEY), TDA Performing Arts and Benalla’s P-12 College and FCJ College.
“Live music has always been an important feature of the Benalla Festival, with something for people of all ages to enjoy,” said Cr Martin. “I think this year we have really managed to outdo ourselves.”
