The iconic Benalla Festival street parade, Lake Benalla foreshore entertainment and a Day in the Gardens market will be the climax of the 2014 Benalla Festival this weekend after a week of successful events.
The popular street parade will begin at 12.30pm on Saturday 8 November, with stilt walkers, marching bands, school and community floats, dancers, historic cars and aircraft.
Free live music and children’s entertainment will start at 4.30pm at the Lake Benalla Foreshore, with evening highlights including the headline act Absolutely 80s, the announcement of the winner of the Hay Bale Art competition and a fireworks display at 9.15pm.
A Day in the Gardens market will run from 9am-3pm on Sunday 9 November, with market stalls, children’s entertainment, live music and food and drink.
“This has been an extremely successful Festival so far, particularly the events in our rural villages. I am sure that this coming weekend, Benalla will be buzzing,” said Cr Suzy Martin, Chair of the Benalla Festival Committee.
“Our strong partnerships with our sponsors and the Council’s financial support mean we have been able to keep all of our events low or no cost, so this will be a terrific opportunity for visitors and families to have a lot of fun while they experience some of the best talent and produce our rural city has to offer.”
