| Family Day Care | | Benalla Family Day Care is a community based childcare scheme, sponsored by the Benalla Rural City Council, and receives Australian Government funding from the Child Care Support Program. Family Day Care is a program whereby four pre-school aged children, including the Careprovider’s own children, are cared for in the home of a registered Careprovider. In addition, before and after school and vacation care can be provided for Primary School aged children. The Scheme provides reasonably priced, flexible childcare with arrangements to suit the individual needs of families. Care can be provided on a full-time, part-time or casual basis, and for families who are on call or work shifts, care may also be overnight or on weekends.
As a Nationally Accredited Child Care Provider of quality home-based care, parents are able to access full Child Care Benefit entitlements. Careproviders’ homes are regularly visited by Scheme Staff who discuss the children’s progress and provide guidance where necessary. Careproviders are also able to access ongoing support and professional training through the Family Day Care Coordination Unit. The emphasis for Family Day Care is on a warm, stimulating happy family environment with a Careprovider who enjoys and understands children and is skilled dealing with their day-to-day needs. It is affordable alternative to Centre Based Care for families looking for quality child care in a home environment. To become a registered Careprovider, applicants must be able to demonstrate experience working with young children; undergo a police check, working with children check and medical check; and their home environments must comply with Safety and Hygiene Checks completed annually by the Scheme.
