Parking limits in the new Mair Street car park have been increased to a mixture of four hour and all day parking, following an analysis of the use of the parking since its construction.
The limits have increased to improve the access to long term parking for people visiting Benalla’s Central Business District.
The 18 parking bays on the Bridge Street side of the car park will have a four hour limit, with all day parking spaces available on the other side adjoining the Civic Centre. Both sides have accessible car parking spaces.
“People have an expectation that they will be able to find adequate parking when they go shopping or need to attend appointments or access services,” said Mayor Cr Justin King.
“While we can never guarantee that people will always find a car park right outside the shop or service they are visiting, the use of these longer term spots should ease pressure on short term parking in other parts of the CBD,” Cr King said.
“We are very fortunate to have extensive free parking throughout Benalla Rural City,” he said.
