Indigenous singer-songwriter and Mutti Mutti man Kutcha Edwards will host an unmissable live music program on Saturday 7 November as part of the 2015 Benalla Festival.
This hugely popular regular event in the Festival program held by Lake Benalla will feature international, national and home grown talent, with award winning Indigenous singer/song writer Benny Walker, country rock band RUCKUS, and IRIS, featuring Benalla’s own Richelle Boer.
The line up also feature children’s entertainment, Yorta Yorta dances from Dungala Dance Group, fire twirling and fire works.
The Festival begins on 31 October at Goorambat’s Hot Air Balloon Night Glow with a performance by the Boweya Blues Band. Steve Eales will perform at Benalla’s inaugural East End Street Party on Friday 6 November and acclaimed singer-songwriter Sal Kimber at Thoona as part of the Rural Fire Tales film launch on Wednesday 4 November.
More regional talent will entertain at the A Day in the Gardens Market with Jazzarratta and The Border Bunch, highlighting the Festival theme, ‘Heart of the Country’.
“The live music and art at this year’s Festival is outstanding, particularly with its strong indigenous emphasis,” said Cr Suzy Martin, Chair of the Benalla Festival Advisory Committee.
“We are inviting visitors to come and enjoy an array of live music and Benalla’s amazing new street art installations,” Cr Martin said.
Art events include the Farm Art Touring Trail which takes visitors on a journey from Benalla to the rural villages, the Broken River Potters and Painters exhibitions, Benalla P-12 College Hair Styles exhibition, and Helga Leunig’s Mother Country exhibition at the Benalla Art Gallery and the Regional Art Show at Tatong.
