Australia Day Award Winners 2022 with Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn

Australia Day is a wonderful opportunity for all citizens of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate what we love about our country and what it means to be Australian.

The Benalla Rural City Australia Day Awards acknowledge the commitment, dedication and invaluable achievements of our many community members, who selflessly contribute, and make our Rural City such a special, positive, and vibrant place to call home.

Chair of the Benalla Rural City Australia Day Advisory Committee, Mayor Bernie Hearn today announced winners of Benalla Rural City’s Australia Day Awards. The Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre hosted celebrations from 10am where 30 nominees for awards were announced.

Mayor Hearn said the high calibre of nominations we received demonstrated the commitment and dedication that exists within the community especially during the challenges of the past two years.

The Australia Day Awards are just one way of recognising the invaluable contribution of members of our community, and thanking them for their commitment and dedication to helping others,” she said. “Our community could not achieve what it does without their outstanding efforts.”

Mayor Hearn also encouraged nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards. “We know there are many others that also contribute to the wellbeing of our community, but they are not always given deserved recognition,” she said. “I urge people to nominate those they believe are worthy of recognition for future awards.”
