Open Air Pop Up Cinema

Free outdoor cinema will be at the Lake Benalla Foreshore from 18 - 21 January 2018.

The pop-up roadshow cinema will run for four nights.

  • Thursday 18 January - Big Hero 6
  • Friday 19 January - Pitch Perfect
  • Saturday 20 January - Inside Out
  • Sunday 21 January - Red Dog

Food vans, frozen drinks, popcorn and a bar will be available, with patrons needing to bring blankets and cushions. Tickets are limited and available for free when booked online. Gates open at 6pm and the movies start at sunset.

Acting Mayor, Cr Scott Upston said this event will be a great complement to the Benalla Cinema at BPACC, which shows latest release movies all year.

“Outdoor cinema is an experience usually reserved for the metro areas. This is a great way for the community to enjoy it, for free, right here on the Benalla foreshore,” Cr Upston said.

The pop-up cinema is supported by the Benalla Rural City Council, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Toyota and Prime Super. Tickets are available at the gate for $10 for adults and $5 for children, or free if they are booked online.

“Supporting community events is part of Toyota’s DNA and the team at Benalla Mansfield Toyota are incredibly proud to be supporting this event in Benalla,” Toyota Regional Marketing Manager, Jeremy Watson said.

TAC senior road safety manager Samantha Cockfield said the pop-up cinema is a new way for the TAC to get its road safety message into regional Victoria.

"Victorians are four times more likely to die on country roads so we're always looking for new ways to help country Victorians get home safely, every time they get behind the wheel,” she said.

The pop-up cinema is operated by Cinema Pop Up, the largest outdoor regional cinema operator in Victoria.

“We’re excited to bring this event to Benalla. Having these magnificent partners on board together with support from the Benalla Cinema at BPACC means we can offer a free experience people can share together,” said Cinema Pop Up Director Kate Hardwick said.
