After a short break due to the pandemic, the Victorian Seniors Festival is due to return to Benalla Rural City.

Festival events in Benalla and surrounds kick off with a High Tea and Fashion Show at the Benalla Bowls Club on Thursday 6 October, presented by Waminda, with support from Age Friendly Benalla and Benalla Rural City Council.

Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn said the program of events for this year’s festival will be well received by Benalla Rural City residents.

“We have a great mix of entertaining and informative events lined up and are expecting good support of the festival after our seniors missed out over the past two years,” Mayor, Cr Hearn, said.

“The fashion show at the Benalla Bowls Club will be a highlight of the festival and we are looking forward to some creative and colourful outfits on the catwalk.

Following on from this, Council has also organised discounted movie screenings for seniors at both Swanpool Cinema and BPACC.”

Other events include a U3A workshop to help seniors navigate the internet, and an afternoon of games and entertainment presented by the Benalla Senior Citizens.

This year marks the 40th Victorian Seniors Festival. Council has received support from the Victorian Government to assist in providing a diverse range of activities for free or low cost.
