Benalla Art Gallery will launch its widely loved Art on Saturdays program again this July.

The program offers a number of creative workshops facilitated by professional artists, and covers topics and techniques ranging from mosaics, to drawing white on black, life drawing, linocut printing, and wet and nuno felting.

Leading the program is an exclusive mosaic workshop with nationally acclaimed artist, Deborah Halpern, who is credited to have helped shape the cultural identity of Melbourne and was recently awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to the arts.

One of Australia’s most celebrated sculptors, Halpern is known for her wildly colourful mosaic work. Creator of many of Melbourne’s most loved public sculptures, Halpern’s works exude an innate vitality and simplicity. Halpern's two-day mosaic workshop will offer an in-depth and hands-on insight into her sculptural process, and participants will design and complete their own unique tiled panel.

Benalla Art Gallery is now taking bookings for this new and exciting range of art workshops as part of its Art on Saturdays program. The workshops will run every Saturday from 17 July until 11 September 2021 at Benalla Art Gallery in the Patricia [Pat] Gardner Studio.

Places are strictly limited and bookings are essential. For more information visit the website: www.benallartgallery.com.au or contact the Gallery on 03 5760 2619 or email gallery@benalla.vic.gov.au
