Dogs in Park

Benalla Rural City Council is seeking community input to help choose the location for dog parks in Benalla.

Benalla Rural City Council Mayor Bernie Hearn said funding had been allocated for the establishment of dog park facilities in Benalla as part of the Council Budget 2022/23.

“A total of $100,000 has been allocated to this project and we estimate that several fenced off-leash areas could be delivered, depending on the size and location chosen.

Each new dog park would be developed with appropriate fencing, bench seating, as well as clear signage. As part of the community consultation, we are asking the community to help choose the best locations,” Cr Hearn said.

The potential sites under consideration include Psaltis Parade Reserve, Cook Street Reserve, Gaskin Street entry, Churchill Reserve, 91-109 Arundel Street, 4-6 Monash Drive, Neil Avenue Bushland Reserve, Hair Court and corner Benson and Market streets.

Council officers will be in Bridge Street East on Wednesday 30 November, and at Churchill Reserve on the morning of Saturday 3 December to answer questions from the community.

For more information or to provide your input visit haveyoursay.benalla.vic.gov.au, come along to one of the community consultation sessions or call 5760 2600.

Submissions close 31 December.
