Emergency works from October flood event

As a result of the recent flood event and ongoing rain, more than 40 Council managed roads within Benalla Rural City have been identified for emergency works.
Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn said that many local roads across Benalla Rural City had been impacted by rain and flooding over recent weeks.
“Council staff have been working tirelessly to identify the worst affected roads for emergency repairs,” Cr Hearn said.
“We have been inspecting and assessing roads, bridges and structures across our network and are delivering emergency repairs where they’re needed most, however, we are aware that significant damage remains on many of our roads.
“We continue to prioritise and schedule emergency repairs to flood affected roads with further work also to come on other roads.”
Council has applied to the National Disaster Financial Assistance Scheme for funding assistance to help meet the significant cost of its relief and recovery efforts.
