Free Green Waste Weekend coming up

Benalla Rural City’s Free Green Waste Weekend is coming up.

Residents and ratepayers will be able to bring one load of green waste (up to 300kg) to dispose of it for free at the Benalla Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre from midday to 3.45pm on the weekend of 29-30 October 2022.

Green waste is lawn clippings, branches, garden prunings and raw timber offcuts.

To access free green waste disposal, we ask that residents make a trip with just green waste. If residents arrive with a mix of green waste and other waste, it can be challenging to separate the load to decide which materials are free.

The Benalla Landfill can only accept timber that is raw and in its natural form. This means any machined timber cannot be accepted as green waste for free disposal. Stumps need to be less than 400mm in diameter and 1000mm (1m) in length.

The free Green Waste weekend is for domestic customers only.

Only sedans, utes or trailers (up to dual wheel tandem will be accepted). Trucks and tippers are considered commercial quantities so are not eligible to dispose of green waste for free.
