Why did you nominate for election to council?

Benalla needs representation from community members who see the opportunities for Benalla and District and who are prepared to put in the time and effort to make the most of these opportunities. As an active community member of Benalla for many years, and with experience in business, tourism and advocating for better services I have successfully represented Benalla and I nominated to continue in this vein.

What is your vision for Benalla?

A Benalla and District that is vibrant, with reasonable levels of employment, services that meet our residents’ needs in relation to good roads, access to health and educational services, support for existing and new businesses.

What local issues are you especially interested in?

We need to keep Benalla and District vibrant.  For a small rural city such as ours we have a lot going for us and we need to take advantage of every business, tourism and population opportunity that comes our way.

Look after what we have while always on the lookout for new ventures, services, people, that will increase the viability of Benalla and District.  Also, working with other government departments to increase access for our young people to initiatives that will assist them with their education and employment. Work with others on initiatives that benefit the general wellbeing of our community such as the mental health and jobs programs.

What would you like council to achieve in the next four years?

Work with others to increase employment opportunities for our residents.  Lead a whole of community campaign to attract business and people to Benalla.  Success in advocating for increased road funding for all small rural councils. Have a viable business plan for the Landfill. Go out to all our rural villages over the course of the next 4 years (at least 3 per year) with information sessions and one on one with Councillors and Council officers.  Be in a better financial position.

Your background - work experience, career, family, children, hobbies?
