Benalla Library to Host Author Talk with Renowned Novelist Kylie Ladd

23 May 2025

Benalla Rural City Council is delighted to announce an exciting Library Talk featuring acclaimed novelist, psychologist, and freelance writer Kylie Ladd. The event promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking experience for all attendees.

Kylie Ladd will be sharing insights about her latest novel, The Mix-up, a beautifully told and thought-provoking novel about a mix-up that leaves two children wondering who they really are and where they belong…

About the Novel: What if you discovered you’d been raising someone else’s child, and they’d been raising yours?
Fourteen years ago, Kelsey and Raf Maccioni brought home their newborn daughter, Ammy. Around the same time, Shona and Nathan James welcomed their son, Zac. The only connection between these strangers was the IVF clinic that made parenthood possible.
By April 2024, Ammy is a rebellious teen, and Zac is a quiet, thoughtful boy. Both families’ lives are far from perfect, but they’re getting by as best they can.

Then everything changes. Ammy’s DNA test for a school project reveals shocking results, and the IVF clinic admits to a devastating error.
Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn encouraged the community to come along to the Library Talk to dive deeper into the topic.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kylie Ladd to Benalla Rural City for what promises to be a fantastic event for our community. Kylie’s ability to tell stories that are both heartfelt and thought-provoking is inspiring, and this is a great chance for residents to hear from one of Australia’s most talented authors.” Cr Hearn said.
