Benalla Rural City Council’s Proposed 2025/26 Budget and Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 have been released for community feedback.
Both documents were considered at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 30 April 2025 with feedback welcomed until Wednesday 28 May 2025.
A Community Information forum will be held from 5.30pm on Tuesday 13 May 2025 at the Benalla Civic Centre, 13 Mair Street, Benalla. The forum will provide an opportunity for the community to ask questions and offer feedback on the proposed budget and draft revenue and rating plan.
The proposed budget includes a 3 per cent rate rise in line with the Victorian Government’s Rate Capping System. A $3.979 million surplus is projected with a $12.629 million capital works program to be delivered.
Capital projects include $1.451 million to maintain sealed roads, a $1.161 million gravel road re-sheet program, $1 million to construct a pump track and $718,000 to drainage works.
Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn urged community members to participate by reviewing and understanding the proposed budget and draft plan.
“I encourage everyone to take the time to read these documents, so you know how your rates are calculated and what you are being charged for,” Cr Hearn said.
“The information forum will be a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how the budget will shape our community,” said Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn.
