Community invited to share feedback after a standout 2026 Benalla Street Art Festival

08 May 2026

Thousands of people filled Benalla’s streets from 17–19 April for the 2026 Benalla Street Art Festival, and the community is now being invited to share their feedback through a short online survey. The survey will help shape future festivals and ensure the event continues to grow in ways that reflect what locals and visitors value most.

This year’s festival added 15 new murals to Benalla’s already impressive collection of more than 95 existing artworks, strengthening the rural city’s reputation as Australia’s premier regional street art destination. Council is encouraging everyone who attended – whether for a single event or the full weekend – to take a few minutes to share their thoughts.

Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn said the festival’s success was a testament to the enthusiasm of the Benalla community, the creativity of the artists, and the hard work and commitment staff and volunteers.

“What we saw over the festival weekend was Benalla at its best,” Cr Hearn said.

“The festival brought thousands of people to Benalla Rural City and the atmosphere was incredible. Each year the new murals add vibrancy to our streets, and they’ve already become talking points for locals and visitors alike.”

The 2026 program offered something for everyone: live mural painting, artist workshops, guided walking tours, exhibitions, markets, live music and family-friendly activities. Visitors explored hidden laneways, met artists at work and immersed themselves in the creative culture that continues to put Benalla on the map.

Cr Hearn said community feedback is essential as planning begins for the next Benalla Street Art Festival.

“We’re proud of what the 2026 Festival delivered, but we’re always looking to build on it,” Cr Hearn said.

“If you attended any part of the weekend, we’d really value your thoughts. Your feedback helps us understand what resonated, what surprised you and what you’d love to see more of in future years.”

A short online survey is now open for residents, visitors and anyone who attended the Festival. The survey closes on Thursday 21 May 2026.
