Council’s TAC L2P Program launches new vehicles

29 July 2025

Benalla Rural City Council’s TAC L2P program is excited to announce the official launch of two new learner mentoring vehicles. Community members are invited to join the program partners on Thursday 31 July at 4pm, at Benalla Toyota, 28 Sydney Road Benalla in celebration.

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC)’s Vehicle Replacement Initiative, Benalla Rural City Council and existing sponsors Benalla Auto Club and Winton Motor Raceway have supported the addition of a new Toyota Yaris to the program. Benalla Toyota has provided a replacement new Toyota Corolla, continuing their strong partnership and support to the program since 2014.

Mayor, Cr Bernie Hearn, welcomed the program’s strength and longevity.

“This program shows how Council, government, and business can work together to make getting a licence accessible for everyone. The program support is making a real difference for our residents, and I’m glad to see these efforts benefiting our community.”

Operating since 2010, the program continues to support local youth to gain their driver’s license, with 31 young people successfully completing the course in the last year.

Young people and volunteers interested in joining the program can apply through their VicRoads account. Step-by-step information is available on the Council’s website, directing applicants to instructions on the DTP website.

The Benalla Rural City Council welcomes all community members to attend the launch and celebrate this important milestone for local youth.
