Two of Australia’s most inventive storytellers are visiting Benalla Library for a special author event celebrating bold, imaginative Australian fiction. This is a rare chance to hear directly from Wayne Marshall and Michael Winkler as they share insights into their latest novels and their creative journeys.
About the authors
Wayne Marshall Marshall is the author of Henry Goes Bush, an inventive debut novel blending outback history with speculative twists. His short story collection Shirl was shortlisted for a Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, and his writing appears in leading Australian literary journals including Overland, Island and Going Down Swinging.
Michael Winkler Winkler will discuss Griefdogg, his new novel set in Mildura. He is also the author of Grimmish, shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. His essays, reviews and non‑fiction have been widely published in journals such as Meanjin, ABR and Griffith Review. Winkler also has family connections in Benalla.
