IDAHOBIT 2025 Flag Raising Ceremony

Benalla Rural City Council warmly invites the community to join in recognising and celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on Friday, 16 May 2025. This special occasion will be marked by a flag-raising ceremony at the new Benalla Police Station at 10am, and all community members are encouraged to attend this meaningful event.

IDAHOBIT is a global day of significance that shines a spotlight on the fight against discrimination towards LGBTQIA+ individuals while promoting acceptance, inclusion, and equality. By coming together as a community, we have the opportunity to show our support for diversity and inclusion, creating a stronger, more united Benalla Rural City.

The event will take place at the recently built Benalla Police Station, providing an ideal setting to reflect on the importance of respect and solidarity. A small ceremony will accompany the flag raising, offering a chance to engage, connect, and stand together in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. This gathering is more than just a celebration; it is a powerful reminder of the role we all play in fostering safety, understanding, and belonging.

Council proudly acknowledges the support and partnership of Victoria Police in ensuring this event is possible. Their commitment to inclusion and respect reinforces the importance of working collectively to make our community a welcoming space for everyone.

We encourage all residents of Benalla Rural City to attend the IDAHOBIT 2025 Flag Raising Ceremony. Join us on Friday, 16 May 2025, at 10am at the new Benalla Police Station to celebrate diversity, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. Together, we can continue to build a community where every individual is valued and supported.
