Local community groups, clubs and not-for-profit‑ organisations are being reminded that time is running out to apply for support through Benalla Rural City Council’s 2026 Community Grants Program, with applications closing at midnight on Sunday 26 April 2026.
The annual program provides financial support for projects that strengthen community connection, build local capacity and enhance the wellbeing of residents.
Deputy Mayor Cr Justin King said there is still time for groups to apply, but the deadline is fast approaching.
“We know there are many great ideas and community driven‑ projects out there, and these grants are designed to help bring them to life,” Cr King said.
“With applications closing soon, I encourage groups to take this opportunity. Even a modest grant can give a project the momentum it needs to make a real impact.”
Two grant categories are available: Major Community Grants of up to $7,000 and Minor Community Grants of up to $3,000. Organisations may apply for both, but only one grant will be awarded per group. Major Grants can only be received once every three years.
“Our volunteers and community organisations do incredible work. This program is one way Council can recognise that effort and support initiatives that benefit our whole community,” he said.
Applications close midnight, Sunday 26 April 2026.
