09 May 2025

Don’t miss your opportunity to have your say on Benalla Rural City Council’s draft Destination Management Plan. Feedback closes on Thursday, 15 May 2025. Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to share their insights to help shape the future of tourism in our region.

Developed in partnership with TRC Tourism, the draft plan outlines a strategic approach to strengthen Benalla Rural City’s tourism industry, highlighting local strengths and identifying opportunities to expand and enhance the visitor experience.

Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn encouraged everyone to get involved before the consultation period ends.

“The draft Destination Management Plan is a vital step in building a sustainable future for tourism in Benalla Rural City. We want to hear your thoughts on how we can improve and grow our local offerings. This is your chance to have your say and help us develop a plan that reflects the unique spirit of our region and the aspirations of our community,” Cr Hearn said.

More than 30 community members attended a dedicated feedback session on the draft Destination Management Plan held last week at the Benalla Cinema.

Local residents, business owners and tourism operators attended the feedback session and shared their perspectives, insights, input and feedback to help shape the future of tourism in Benalla Rural City.

Tourism contributes significantly to Benalla Rural City’s economy, drawing around 350,000 visitors annually and generating $48 million. Local attractions like the Benalla Art Gallery, Winton Wetlands, and acclaimed street and silo art make Benalla a must-visit destination, but community input is key to ensuring ongoing success and sustainability.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to help shape the future of tourism in Benalla Rural City.
