Peter Mitchell to present wartime history talk at Benalla Library

Benalla Rural City Council is pleased to host a special author talk featuring historian and writer Peter Mitchell, who will share insights from his acclaimed work I’ll Walk Beside You, a powerful exploration of Australian wartime history.

Drawing on letters, diaries and official records, Mitchell traces the journey of the 2/2 Pioneer Battalion from the fall of Java through captivity in Batavia and the brutal conditions of the Burma-Thai Railway. His work highlights the endurance, humour and mateship that carried ordinary Australians through extraordinary hardship.
