Benalla Rural City Council is advising the community that the water pump at Casey’s Weir will now operate only on the second Wednesday of each month, from 8am to 1pm.
The pump was originally installed to provide much‑needed assistance to farmers across the municipality during periods of limited water availability. The pump, which is free to use, was introduced to help alleviate some of the stress caused by restricted water supplies and is strictly for stock and domestic use only.
Recent rainfall and cooler conditions have resulted in a significant reduction in patronage by local farmers, prompting Council to adjust the operating schedule. Council will continue to monitor conditions and usage levels and may revise the schedule again, if demand requires.
The water pump at Casey’s Weir is located on the Midland Highway, just before the intersection of the Benalla–Tocumwal Road.
