Benalla Rural City Council will soon begin works on Waller Street, between Clarke Street and Mansfield Road, to improve the safety and condition of the road for all users.
Pavement rehabilitation works are scheduled to be undertaken during the school holidays and will begin on Monday 21 September 2026 and are expected to be completed by Friday 2 October 2026, weather permitting.
The works will involve cement stabilisation and spray sealing of the road pavement, including the Clarke Street intersection. This will repair existing deterioration, improve pavement strength and surface shape, reduce roughness, and extend the life of the road.
The works will be carried out by Stabilised Pavements of Australia Pty Ltd on behalf of Benalla Rural City Council and are funded by the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery Program 2024-2029.
Traffic management will be in place throughout the works, including lane closures and a temporary speed reduction to 40 km/h within the work zone. Motorists should allow extra travel time, as delays are likely. Where required, traffic may be detoured onto nearby local streets.
Residents and businesses in the area will receive a letterbox notification before works begin. Everyone in the area is asked to follow all onsite traffic management directions during the works.
Council understands that road works can cause some disruption, including noise, dust, and changes to access. Kerbside waste collection may also be temporarily affected. Council will work to minimise impacts wherever possible and thanks the community for its patience and understanding.
