Benalla Rural City Council is pleased to announce the successful completion of gravel shoulder reconstruction works along Devenish Road, Goorambat, from Goorambat township to Feldtman Road. This important infrastructure upgrade marks a significant improvement in road safety and accessibility for the Benalla Rural City community and rural road users.
By sealing the gravel shoulders, the project has transformed this stretch of road from a single carriageway to a double carriageway sealed road. The enhanced design ensures smoother traffic flow, better load distribution, and improved safety for all users.
Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn highlighted the value of the project and the importance to the local community.
“Upgrades like this are about safety for all road users. They help everyone who lives, works, or travels around our Rural City,” Cr Hearn said.
“Creating a double carriageway provides safer travel conditions and reduces the risk of accidents.”
“This benefits families, businesses and visitors who travel on our local roads every day. We’re proud of what this upgrade will mean for our community,” she said.
The recently completed works reflect Council’s commitment to ensuring a safer and more reliable road network for our residents. Council remains committed to prioritising infrastructure projects that enhance the quality of life for the community it serves. This important upgrade forms part of Benalla Rural City Council’s ongoing Capital Works Program.
