Benalla Rural City comes together for a magical Community Christmas Party

15 December 2025

Benalla’s festive spirit was on full display on Friday evening as hundreds of people gathered at the Splash Park for the 2025 Community Christmas Party.

Benalla Rural City Council extends its warmest thanks to everyone who joined in, helping create a joyful and memorable celebration for the whole community.

Families enjoyed a free BBQ prepared by the Rotary Club of Benalla, along with facepainting, games and Christmas-themed art activities supplied by the Benalla Art Gallery. The photobooth, provided by Capture Your Moment and generously sponsored by Anna Greenhalgh Estate Agent, was a hit with all ages.

The excitement peaked with a visit from Santa himself, transported all the way from the North Pole by our dedicated SES volunteers.

Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn, who had the privilege attended the event, said it was wonderful to see the community come together to celebrate the festive season.

“It was a fantastic night at the Splash Park, with families and friends taking the time to enjoy the evening together,” Cr Hearn said.

“I want to thank everyone who came along, our incredible volunteers and our partners who helped bring this fantastic evening to life.”

“Events like this remind us of the strength and kindness of our community. It’s a privilege to celebrate alongside so many local families.”

The evening also featured the announcement of the 2025 Business Window Christmas Competition winners:

  • Best night-time display: Spot On Sparky
  • Best daytime display: Elm Tree House Antiques
  • Most amazing display: Brick by Brick
  • Best display outside of Benalla: Devenish Post Office.

Highly Commended:

  • Jenny Milner-Marsha Watson Pharmacy
  • Room at the Table.

“Our local businesses have once again outdone themselves,” Cr Hearn said.

“The standard of entries this year was outstanding. These displays bring so much colour and joy to our streets, and I thank every business for helping make Benalla Rural City feel so festive.”

Benalla Rural City Council thanks all who contributed to the event’s success and looks forward to sharing more festive moments with the community in the coming weeks.
