Benalla Rural City Council is proud to champion an age-friendly community where older residents can thrive. Through initiatives like the Age Friendly Benalla Reference Group, Benalla Treasures, and the Victorian Seniors Festival, the Council celebrates the invaluable contributions of seniors while fostering an inclusive and connected community. We are committed to supporting the health, wellbeing, and engagement of our older residents, ensuring they feel valued and have access to opportunities that enrich their lives.
Benalla Rural City Council is dedicated to creating an age-friendly community where older residents can live safe, healthy, and purposeful lives. Acknowledging the contributions of seniors, the Council supports initiatives that foster inclusion, health, and connection across the community.
The Age Friendly Benalla Reference Group has developed the Age Friendly Strategy 2025 which outlines how the Age Friendly Benalla Reference Group make decisions to support the development of an age-friendly community. (A copy will be added once it has been developed)

The Victorian Seniors Festival is a much-anticipated statewide celebration focusing on older Victorians.
Held every October, the annual event encourages seniors to explore new activities, meet people, get active and redefine the way we think about ageing.
There are eight days of free public transport which allows the Victorian senior community to travel all over the state to attend events.
The 2025 Victorian Seniors Festival theme is Connect, Create and Celebrate.

For eligibility details and to organise an assessment, visit the My Aged Care website or call 1800 200 422. Local service providers include Calvary Community Care (1300 797 522) and Community Accessibility (1300 704 530).

LiveUp supports councils by providing
evidence-based, impartial and
co-designed healthy ageing resources
to complement the work already being
undertaken to support older residents to
age well.
Through the Liveup website, residents can
find local groups and activities, suggested
assistive products and a range of healthy
ageing resources, to help them stay
independent and socially connected. LiveUp
also has a Navigation service for those who
would prefer to speak to someone over
the phone.
