Located on Old Farnley Road, the Benalla Resource Recovery Centre (Benalla Landfill) provides safe and accessible services for waste disposal.
- Hours: Open daily from 12pm to 3.45pm. Closed on public holidays and Code Red/Total Fire Ban days.
- Accepted Materials: Recyclables (e.g., plastics, unbroken glass, aluminium), general waste, green waste, and e-waste.
- Fees and Charges: Fees are based on volume and waste type. See below table for details.

Accepted free of charge
Recyclable plastic, unbroken glass bottles, aluminium containers, cardboard (under 100kg), wire, steel, metal, oil (under 20 litre containers), washing machines, ovens, fridges/freezers (CFC must already be removed), car batteries.
The Benalla landfill does not accept liquid or chemical waste.
Special Guidelines
- Household chemicals can’t be accepted but can be disposed of at ‘Detox Your Home’ events.
- Farm chemical containers must be clean and labelled. Contact the Council to make a booking under the drumMUSTER program.

If you are a local business within the municipality that is requiring access to the Landfill weekdays from 9am, complete the online account application form.
The following materials can be disposed of by approved commercial customers from 9am weekdays:
- organic green waste
- general waste
Please note commercial accounts can only be used on weekdays and must only consist of a single material from the list above.
