Benalla Rural City Council conducts Citizenship Ceremonies for residents who wish to become Australian citizens. Applications for citizenship need to be made directly to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Once the Department has assessed and approved the application, Benalla Rural City Council conducts the ceremony and presents the citizenship certificates on behalf of the Department.
Citizenship ceremonies are held throughout the year. On Australia Day, we usually hold a special presentation ceremony at the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre (BPACC).
If you would like to apply for Australian citizenship, visit the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection website or call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.
