The Benalla Rural City Council Annual Grants Program opens on 7 February 2022 and will distribute up to $90,000 to community-based not for profit groups and other organisations to assist in hosting events, activities, and initiatives.

The annual program includes Community Grants up to $2,500, Major Event Funding up to $1,500, Youth Participation Grants up to $1,000 and Community Sponsorship, allocated monthly in amounts of up to $500.

Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn said the funding provides a vital boost to local activities and events.

“The Annual Grants Program provides the opportunity for all community groups and individuals to further contribute to community life,” said Cr Hearn.

“The Council is offering funds to community groups to help build healthy, active, safe and socially connected communities, towns and villages across the rural city. The range of activities and initiatives covered by the Community Support Program is broad and I encourage people to consider applying,” said Cr Hearn.

Some of the fabulous community projects funded in the 2021 round include new windows for the Benalla Pistol Club Inc., Moorngag Cemetery Trust mural upgrade, and the purchase of new games for Room at The Table Inc.
