Debbie Rees - Baddaginnie Achiever 2022

Debbie Rees became actively involved in local activities soon after arriving with her husband Phil to Baddaginnie in 1998.

Within a short time Debbie became a volunteer secretary of Neighbourhood Watch, was involved with the Baddaginnie CFA holding the positions of brigade secretary and treasurer as well as regularly contributing to the Baddaginnie Babbler newsletter.

Debbie’s service history with the CFA has seen her recognised with a 10 year medal in 2014 and fifteen year medal in 2018. Through this time she has attended many incidents locally, and as part of strike teams assisting other parts of Victoria.

To add to her amazing community service Debbie has been a foster carer of children, member of the Benalla Health Consumer Advisory Committee and involved as a Mental Health Victoria Carer Consultant.

The list of community contributions continue to grow, with Debbie volunteering as secretary and treasurer of Goomalibee Land Care for eight years, and currently acting as a minute taker at Benalla Auto Club.

Debbie has been a mentor through the Tomorrow Today Foundation’s Connect 9 Program and has been involved with the Benalla Water Tower Preservation Group.

Her involvement in many organisations demonstrates her dedication to making a difference in the wider Rural City community.
